Terms and conditions
Version 2026-10 · For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.
Valvia Research Use Licence and account terms — version 2026-10, first draft. To be reviewed by counsel before the first paid licence is sold (plan step 10).
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.
1. Who we are
Valvia is developed and licensed by Microscape ("we"). Questions go to the support address shown on this portal.
2. The software and its intended use
Valvia is a desktop application for the reconstruction and analysis of heart valves from CT images, provided for research use only. It is not a medical device, has not been cleared or approved by any regulatory authority, and must not be used for diagnosis, treatment decisions, patient management or any other clinical purpose. You are responsible for complying with the laws, ethics approvals and data-protection rules that apply to your research.
3. Your account
- You need an account with a verified email address to download Valvia and to obtain licence codes. Keep your password confidential; you are responsible for what happens under your account.
- We may suspend an account used in breach of these terms.
4. Licence codes and the licence term
- A licence code entitles you to install and use Valvia on one computer at a time. Activating the code binds it to that computer. You may release the computer from the portal or from the application and activate the same code on another computer.
- The licence term starts when the code is activated, not when it is issued. A paid licence runs for 30 days per month purchased; a trial runs for 30 days.
- An unactivated paid code may be activated within 12 months of purchase; an unactivated trial code within 90 days of issue. After that the code lapses.
- Extensions add time to an existing licence: to its current expiry if it is active, to its term if it is not activated yet, or from the day of purchase if it has expired.
- Trials are offered to groups on our trial list, once per person and once per computer.
- Service licences for automated systems are issued by us individually.
5. What you may not do
You may not share, resell or sublicense codes; circumvent, disable or tamper with the activation and licence check; reverse engineer the software except where the law permits; or use Valvia for any clinical purpose. We may revoke a licence used in breach of these terms, in which case the application stops working at its next check.
6. Payment and refunds
Prices are shown on the buy page before you pay. Payment is processed by our payment provider; we do not receive or store card details. Refunds are governed by the refund policy on this portal.
7. Updates and availability
We may publish updates and change the portal. Activated licences keep working offline until their expiry even when the portal is unavailable; activation, extension and purchase need the portal.
8. Intellectual property
Valvia, its models and this portal remain our property. Nothing in these terms transfers ownership. Research outputs you produce with Valvia are yours.
9. Warranty and liability
Valvia is provided "as is", for research use, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of results or non-infringement. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the licence concerned in the twelve months before the claim.
10. Changes to these terms
When these terms change we ask you to accept the new version at your next sign-in. The version number is shown on this page.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Microscape is established, to be stated here after review by counsel.
